Common Core State Standards (CCSS)

The Common Core State Standards are the English Language Arts and Mathematics standards which define the knowledge and skills students should obtain to successfully prepare for college and career opportunities. The standards were developed by 48 states, two territories and the District of Columbia.

Smarter Balanced Assessment Consortium (SBAC)

Smarter Balanced is a state-led consortium working collaboratively to develop next-generation assessments aligned to the Common Core State Standards. Michigan is a Governing State of SBAC and plans to replace the MEAP tests with the SBAC computer adaptive summative test in the spring of 2015, to measure student progress toward college and career readiness.
