PAF Presents Check for $50,000 During Half-Time

October 10, 2008: The PAF Board of Directors presented a check for $50,000 to the District's athletic programs during half-time of the Northern-Central football game. With this donation, PAF has now donated more than $500,000 to athletics throughout PPS high schools and middle schools. PAF was established in 1981 and is governed by a community Board of Directors (see listing to the right).

Meanwhile, PAF board members and Superintendent Marsha Wells announced during half-time that a sign would be erected at the PC Soccer Field in honor of two-time Olympic Gold Medal winner Lindsey Tarpley.

17th Annual Golf Outing Raises Record Amount for PAF

Portage Athletic Foundation’s 17th Annual Golf Outing earned a record $39,000 at this year’s August 11th event. The $39,000 broke last year’s record by nearly 18%.

Event organizers were thrilled to find community support of Portage student athletes to be stronger than ever. Two hundred golfers participated in the event held at the Moors Golf Club. Golfers also had an opportunity to participate in a silent auction, with items ranging from All Star tickets to a ski cabin vacation.

Since the inception of the Portage Athletic Foundation (PAF) in 1981, PAF has donated over $500,000 in support of PPS student athletes. Just last year the District's high schools received $45,000; the middle schools received $13,500 and community high received $2,000. PAF works collaboratively on fund raising efforts within the community to provide financial support to the Portage Public Schools athletic program.

Many thanks to the 2008 golf outing sponsors!
