Tips for a safe summer!
It is our hope that all of our families have a wonderful summer! The key to
having fun is being safe. During the summer months, the number of injuries and
death in children increases. To help prevent this increased number we have
provided a great resource to aid in summer safety.
www.safekidskalamazoo.org.
This website is a great resource educating in child safety. They provide free
child car seat checks and are soon to offer bike helmets to children (by
appointment only). This site also lists current consumer recalls, poison control
information and other safety tips and facts. Check it out, it could save a
life!!
Water Fun
One of our favorite activities in the summer time is playing with water. You can
increase your child’s gross motor abilities all summer long and have fun getting
wet. Practice throwing and catching wet sponges or toss water balloons back and
forth until they pop! You can also make a cool obstacle course in your yard with
things to hop on, jump, over, crawl under and finish off by jumping over a
sprinkler or into a wading pool! Make a family affair out of washing the car, it
won’t even feel like work.
