Tutoring Services and Intervention

Students are encouraged to seek additional academic help and support in the following ways:

1. Please discuss academic concerns with the classroom teacher as soon as problems arise. Be sure to seek help from the teacher before or after school.

2. Students can attend the DLR (Directed Learning Room) on the 3rd floor during the school day. A certified teacher will be available all day to help students with their homework and / or study skills. Teachers, counselors and administrators can refer students to the DLR: however, a student can request to attend on his/her own. Preferably, a student would attend the DLR during his/her seminar or lunch period. The DLR provides additional support and practice time for students who are struggling academically.

3. The ASSIST Program meets Monday through Thursday after school in room #314. Students are able to seek tutoring and additional academic support from 2:50 to 4:50. We will strive to have tutors from the National Honor Society available for extra help and support.

4. We will do the best we can to arrange an individual tutor for students in need. We will personally introduce the NHS student and the student seeking tutoring. It is their responsibility to exchange names, info and available times. The students being tutored will have to communicate their needs and available times.
