PNP Minutes – Nov. 11, 2009
President:
Terri
Novaria called the meeting to order.
Principal’s
Report: Jim French

Facilities Update:
Ms. Biehl and Ms. McConney
will be first to move into new Science Wing.
Move in date: this week
pending completion of the final inspection.
Construction and demolition remain on schedule.
·
Students need to secure their belongings more
responsibly. There have been
electronics and other valuables left in plain sight that were later reported
missing. Students should be
using their lockers to store their valuables.
Also, there is a “Bag Room” that is available for student use for
over-sized bags that are too large for the lockers.
This room is locked.
·
Parent-Teacher Conferences will be held Nov.
18 and 19 in the Doghouse, 5:30-8:30 pm.
The teachers will be seated at tables BY DEPARTMENT,
then will be seated alphabetically within the department.
Counseling
Report: Amy DiMaggio
·
Administration of the ACT-Plan to the
sophomore class was successful as there was strong student attendance.
·
Results for the PSAT (that was taken by the
junior class this past October) will not be available until next Fall.
·

Secretary’s
Report: Jeanne Trompeter

Correction was made with respect to staff on
the DAC .
Minutes should reflect that "the
staff member of the DAC will now be included as a full member of the NHS
site-based team". .
·
Minutes were reviewed and accepted as amended
with above correction.
Treasurer’s
Report: Tish Boerigter

Membership is strong.
PNP Committee
Reports:

Breadlift:
preparation is underway, volunteers have been contacted.
·
Holiday
Dance: There are two
Workshops (Nov. 16 at 7 pm and Nov. 30 at 7 pm) being held to “spruce up”
decorations. Anyone interested
in helping in any way should contact Melissa Shufelt
at
Mjshufelt@aol.com.

Grad Bash:
There are currently two fundraisers.
One is the sale of decorative, reusable bags (will be sold at
Parent-Teacher conferences). The
other is through D&W.
Please just mention Portage Northern Grad Bash while shopping at D&W
from Nov. 22-28, and Grad Bash will receive 2% of the sales.
District
Committee Reports
Site-Based Team:
Monica Harris has resigned.
Need to find replacement.
Also there was a motion
adopted at the 11/9 site-based meeting that the staff member of the DAC will
now be included as a full member of the NHS site-based team.
Budget
Presentation:
Ric Perry presented
"Financial Challenges We
Face Together".

Other news:
Directories are in!
They are available in the Main Office and will also be sold at
Parent-Teacher Conferences. They
are $5.
Next meeting will be Wednesday, Dec. 9 at 11:30 in the Media
Center.
Jeanna Walker (enthusiastic PNHS Media Specialist) will
be presenting on Collaborative Learning Partnerships.
