Welcome to Portage Public Schools!

Enrollment Information

Portage Public Schools (PPS) believes in the strength of community created by a neighborhood schools model. Geographical boundaries are established at the district level and students are enrolled in the school that corresponds to their residence address.  Not sure the school to which your child is assigned?  Check out our attendance boundaries.

Student Enrollment

Enrollment for the 2020/21 school year is now open.

PPS uses an online enrollment process providing families access to enroll anywhere at any time.  If your family is new to Portage Public Schools, we encourage you to enroll your student(s) using our Online Registration Process.

If you are moving to the area but do not yet have an address, please wait until you have address to complete this enrollment application.

If you are a current Portage family with other students enrolled in the district, enroll your new student(s) online using Skyward Family Access.

Families that apply to attend a school outside their boundary-assigned school should wait to enroll until after they receive a decision letter.

If you are not able to enroll online, please contact your school for paper enrollment forms.

Kindergarten/Young 5s Enrollment

If your child turns 5 years old by December 1 of this year, please visit the Kindergarten/Young 5s Enrollment Information page.

Preschool Enrollment

If your child turns 5 years old after December 1, PPS offers both income-eligibility and tuition based Early Childhood Programs for 3 to 5 year olds.

Schools of Choice

Participation in the State of Michigan legislation regarding schools of choice is voluntary. Portage Public Schools elects to participate only in the Out-of-County (105c) program but does not participate in the In-County (105) or In-District programs.  Please visit our Schools of Choice page for eligibility criteria and more information regarding other available options.
