PPS District Employees
Employees who live within the District:
Apply through the Employee Student Transfer Program: Open February 1 - September 30
The placement will be considered permanent through graduation. On the application, the family will be required to indicate which building pathway they’d like their student to follow while in Portage (selecting the preferred Elementary, Middle, and High School for the student to attend).
Those who apply by March 1 will be notified by April 1. Those who apply after March 1 will be notified within a month of their application.
Employees who live outside the District:
Apply through the Schools of Choices Program: Open March 1 - April 1.

Those who miss the April 1 deadline can apply through the Employee Student Transfer Program.
Employees living outside the district may request for their child(ren) to attend the district under Public Act 227, without requiring permission (a release) from their resident district.
Employees living outside the district employed by a third party (Chartwells, EduStaff, GRBS, KRESA, etc.) are not covered under Public Act 227 and do require permission (a release) from their resident district to be eligible for consideration.
