Pay to Participate

Pay to Participate allows Portage Public Schools to offer a wide variety of a activities for students by helping to off-set part of the costs.

Pay to Participate applies to middle and high school students (grades 6-12) who participate in extracurricular activities. These include varsity athletics, all intramural sports, certain clubs and other extra-curricular activities, like musical productions, play productions, debate and forensics. The exception is when students participate as part of a class.

There are two ways to pay:

  1. You can pay through your student’s Fee Management Account in Skyward once they have been added to the official roster.  The fees will be calculated automatically and appear in the Fee Management Tab in Skyward Family Access.
  2. You can give your payment directly to your school/coach or activity leader.

More details:

No student is prevented from participating in  extracurricular activities due to an inability to pay.  There is a cap on fees for families with multiple students, and financial assistance is available.  If your student qualifies for Free or Reduced Meal Benefits, the amount you pay will automatically be discounted.  Complete an application at to determine if you are eligible.

Pay to Participate is an annual fee per student regardless of the number of extra-curricular activities.
