two AI images of a classroom

Students at Woodland had the help of artificial intelligence to illustrate their dreams of what their future elementary school might look like.

Architects charged with designing a new Woodland Elementary School met with students, staff and the community to gather input on what they hope to see in the future school.

As part of the initial design meeting, students shared words to describe their dream classroom such as calming, inclusive, quiet, spacious, energizing, and engaging. One student requested red theater curtains, plush floor cushions and other features that are comfy and cozy

The exercise with students was part of the initial process by architects to imagine what a new Woodland could look like.  Architects also met with Woodland staff and the community Tuesday, Sept. 12.

This follows the groundbreaking of two other construction projects earlier this summer -- new buildings at Central and Haverhill elementary schools. The new buildings are part of the Building the Future of Learning Elementary project, which was made possible by the 2021 bond. Future plans also include new buildings at Amberly and Angling Road elementary schools and remodeling of Moorsbridge Elementary.
