Our Portage Public Schools students are doing amazing things everyday in our classrooms and beyond!
February is Career and Technical Education month and we want to shine a spotlight on our talented students. Follow along with us this month as we highlight the high school students enrolled in a variety of CTE programs designed to help prepare them for their future careers.
Savanna Morris-Atkin, a senior at Portage Community High School, enrolled this year in KVCC’s Culinary Arts program. At the KVCC Culinary campus in downtown Kalamazoo, Savanna is just beginning the unit on baking desserts.
“I’m loving it,” she said of the program. “I’m loving all the people I’ve met and all the good food that we’ve made and tried.”
Savanna plans to study education at Southwestern Michigan College after graduation with hopes of one day teaching in the culinary arts field.
