Our Portage Public Schools students are doing amazing things everyday in our classrooms and beyond!
February is Career and Technical Education month and we want to shine a spotlight on our talented students. Follow along with us this month as we highlight the high school students enrolled in a variety of CTE programs designed to help prepare them for their future careers.
Merab Iqbal, a senior from Portage Northern High School, is enrolled in KRESA’s Criminal Justice and Public Safety program.
“I wanted to take the chance to gain career experience before committing to something,” she said. “So after learning about the CTE programs, I decided to try it out and see if it’s something I wanted to do.”
Merab will go to Loyola University in Chicago in the fall to study forensic science. She plans to take what she’s learned at KVCC and her forensic science degree and help law enforcement solve crimes.
“The KVCC course is a lot of fun, especially because it’s more hands-on,” she said.
