Students learn life skills in Work-Based Learning Program

Issac Duhn, a senior at Portage Central High School, practices playing his piano for hours every day. His diligent practice paid off this winter when he performed every week at Cove Lakeside Bistro as part of the Work Based Learning (WBL) program.

Issac is one of many students who realize their strengths and passions while gaining real-world work skills at a variety of jobs within their community.

WBL, a KRESA program that services high school students in Portage, Vicksburg and Schoolcraft schools, is coordinated by Libby Danielson and her team of job coaches, Linda Gregory and Andrea Pruden.

Students learn job-specific skills and work on tasks in a supportive environment. The program can also provide future employment for students after they graduate. WBL is made possible by partnerships with local businesses and community organizations. Thank you!
