On Monday, October 21st, about 50 6th graders took a field trip with their ELA Literacy PBL teachers, Mrs. Howe and Mr. Chappa, to StoryPoint Senior Living in Kalamazoo. Earlier in the quarter, these students interviewed residents about their lives and stories they wanted to share about their past. The students took their notes and created biography projects for their interviewees. On the 21st the students shared their biography projects with their 'senior friends'! They all engaged in different activities with the residents such as board games, baking, pool, and more! Before they left, the center hosted an ice cream social for the students. All of our 6th grade students will have an opportunity to participate in a similar activity over the course of the year in their ELA Literacy Project Based Learning class.
