A couple weeks ago, our Red Ribbon Week club planned a week of dress up days and activities centered around the theme of "Life Is A Movie, Film Drug Free." Students brought awareness to living a drug free life with dress up days titled "Let's Put Drugs To Rest! - Pajama Day", "Pair Up Against Drugs! - Twin Day", "Your Future Is Too Bright For Drugs - Neon Day", "'Lei' Off Drugs! - Hawaiian Day", and "Let's Team Up Against Drugs! - Jersey Day."
In addition to these days, there was an essay and visual project contest available for students enter submissions about what does this year's theme of "Life Is A Movie, Film Drug Free" mean to you. Several students entered well-written and creative submissions. The winners were announced yesterday and they were:
Va'Nesah L. - Essay Winner; the judges noted that Va'Nesah's essay stood because she clearly expressed her thoughts on each point and eloquently stated what this theme means to her. Great job Va'Nesah!
Valentina L. and Lauren R. - Visual Project Winner; these 2 Pioneers connected to create a video where they played several different characters to visually present what the theme meant to them and to promote the message of living drug free. Way to go Valentina and Lauren!
Congratulations to all the Pioneers entered the contest. We're proud of all of you! Thank you to Mrs. Schnurstein and her Red Ribbon Week committee for bringing awareness to this worthy cause!
