Mission Statement

The staff and parents at Woodland Elementary School work cooperatively to develop the whole child in an atmosphere of respect and dignity.

From the Principal

Dear Woodland Family,

Mrs. Taylor

It is with great pride and excitement that I write this letter of introduction to you as the new principal of Woodland Elementary!

I have been dedicated to the field of education for more than twelve years in various capacities.  Teacher, instructional coach, and principal to name a few.  My career started in Vicksburg and I finished this past year as principal of Hoppin Elementary in Three Rivers.

On a more personal note, my husband and I have two beautiful children, Sydney age 11 and Lincoln age 8, and I can’t leave out our faithful dog and my running partner, Hector.  We spend the majority of our free time outdoors playing golf, fishing, or floating on the pontoon where I can usually be found with a book in hand.

The elementary school years are important and critical times for students.  What happens during these years will have a lasting impression on their future education.  It is my goal to be able to provide the leadership that will help foster an educational environment that is safe, respectable, and holds all responsible for learning. In order to achieve this, it is important that we develop a positive working relationship and open lines of communication.

All of us at Woodland are eager and excited to begin what promises to be a great year as we continue to provide academic experiences for students that are rigorous, relevant and builds relationships. As your Principal, it is important to me that everyone who steps through our doors—teachers, students and parents—are excited to be here! This attitude enables us to meet the challenges of academic excellence in a positive, fun and nurturing environment.

My door is always open and I welcome your input. Please feel free to stop in, call or email me to discuss any concerns, suggestions, or ideas to help make this the best year yet!

I am excited to meet you and your students!

Respectfully,
Allison Taylor
